Checking for Cervical Cancer
Cervical screening (smear test) checks the health of your cervix and can help to prevent cervical cancer. It does this by finding abnormal cells in the cervix before they have a chance to develop into cancer. Any abnormal cells that are found can be removed, to prevent cervical cancer from developing. Cervical screening is offered to women aged 25 to 49 every three years and to woman aged 50 to 64 every five years. As part of cervical screening, your sample may be tested for a virus called 'human papillomavirus' which is the cause of cervical cancer.
It is strongly recommended by your GPs, Dr Munshi and Dr Shaikh, to complete cervical screening. Please call on 0208 527 1888 to book in your 15 minute appointment with the nurse for cervical screening.
